People love to be sold to!
They like parting with their money and they like listening to your spiel and knowing you are trying g to get them to spend their money, because it all adds up for money for you. They are inherently generous, so use this fact to your own advantage.
So , make your product sound impressive – if you are speaking, enjoy the sound of your own voice, if you are on the internet take note of the tip I will be giving in another article about the optimum layout of your web page. And if you use audio on your web page, again, enjoy speaking – and don’t worry if you fluff your lines, or are not very clear as your customer will most likely blame the computer for any lapses you may make. Be natural, don’t prepare of it will sound rehearsed – just be yourself. Everyone has a few "uhms" when they speak, and a broad regional accent will make you sound interesting, even if they can’t quite make out what you are saying.
But who was it put about the idea that the "customer is always right"? In fact the customer is always wrong, and it does no harm to correct their stupid mistakes (in fact, it’s your duty to do so),and pour scorn on their stupid questions – assuming, that is, that you have been foolish enough to pause for long enough for them to get a word in edgeways and actually ask a question. You really would prefer not to have to answer questions – because, let’s face it - you may not know the answer. You can’t be expected to know every last detail about your product, can you?
So, be kind to you ignorant customers, but don’t be afraid to correct them, gently but firmly.
Now remember, your goal is to sell as much as possible at the highest possible price. You may need to economise on quality, but your customers won’t realise that – or at least, not until it’s too late, and then, why should you care? Their main fear is the fear of loss and their main desire is for gain – just like you – but you know more about this particular service or product, so you have the advantage – take it!
Use clear words – things like "buy now", "pay here" are more honest than "grab you copy here" or "click to start making money- now". You will be familiar with the acronym KISS which means keep it simple, stupid. And, lets be honest, most customers are really not that bright, (otherwise why would they be your customer?.
And, don’t stop. Once you have made a sale – keep on and try to get you another one – remember, propel love being sold to, and customers will be disappointed if you finish the process before their wallet is empty.
One final word – it is important to make the customer feel they are getting more than they have paid for – even though they are not. Your bonuses can be pretty useless but they are FREE so the customer can’t complain. This is our chance to get rid of that old DVD series you can’t sell, or even empty the attic! It doesn’t really matter if they are irrelevant to your topic. Watch the postal costs though.
